On the 2nd of May, 2008, as everyone knows, the destructive Cyclone Nargis struck Burma causing death of many people and leaving the delta region with painful sufferings.

Not only many people died, but also houses, buildings, cattle, livestock relating to farming livelihood and many other possessions were lost and destroyed. As we all know, hundreds of children were hopeless in causing them into orphans. Seeing such situations, many social and religious organizations, members of Sanghas nationally and internationally, members of non-profit organizations, governmental authorities and well-wisher donors supported the Nargis victims with humanitarian attitudes to relieve their difficulties. However, the destructions of Nargis cyclone were so tragic that the fate of Nargis victims were facing with such difficult condition of "burden and strength were in imbalance position''. Despite of many donors who helped them as much as they could, the support were insufficient indeed. Therefore, the voices of the moaning victims have remained spreading everywhere in the region. In reality, our supports were still needed for them in every possibility.

Among them, the children are the worse hit. Their beloved parents were lost in Nargis cyclone and their relatives nearby were also in troubles so that the lives of the orphans are extremely hardship and pitiful. "Where is my dad!" "Where is my mom!" "Where are you now?" The voices of weeping children were so sorrowful and their cries still remained in heart till today. Like those who have great compassion, Mettananda Sayadaw and his cyclone relieved teams went down to the destructed regions, such as Laputter, Ngapudaw, Phyarpone, Daydaye, Kungyankone and Kawmu townships for (18) times and donated supporting items, such as food, clothings, medicines, utensils, mosquito nets, blankets, bed-sheets, cooking rise, paddy seeds, fertilizers and other necessaries together with cash money. During the trips, it has learned that it is indeed not enough to be sympathy on the orphans, but it has thought that if they don't have the opportunity to learn the proper education; if they do not get necessary food, cloth, shelter and health care, the lives of their future will be so much misery more than what we have thought. Based on the experience and heartfelt situation, the Nargis relieved team led by Mettananda Sayadaw held meetings for a foundation to support the Nargis orphans with a long term project as well as short term aids in possible ways. Then the members started to form the organization named "Child Aid Foundation". The foundation is to run dependent on the donation of the donors nationally and internationally. That is why we members of "Child Aid Foundation" would like to give millions of thanks to well-wishers all over the world.
